Why should you have a website? Freelance designers, developers and programmers needed get in touch
Aug 13

I’ve lately been thinking alot about which programming language and/or web framework we should be using.

The is a great deal of choice out there, I’ve used many languages over the years but these days I find that PHP or ruby on rails are a good fit.

Before using PHP i was using Java (which is a good tech to use if you want to build massive applications), but these days I mainly work on small to medium size apps that just dont need what Java brings to the table. I like the PHP language as its quite terse and can get stuff dont quicker in it.

Also I’d been using Rails for awhile and really like some of the ideas in there to save time. Although I found a few things awkward about it and there wasnt a good deal of docs out there when i was using it (version 1.2 i think was a while ago now). Although recently I have revisited it and am starting to like it more and more. The speed of development is hard to ignore.

Any way which languages are you using and why ?

Welll, I’m relatively new to this craic but I’ve been using php as it seems one of the more popular programming languages and seems to be very versatile.

Nice one for the css gradient tutorial on your WebDevTV site. It looks really pretty. Would love to see some more please! ;-)
